Gloster’s Garden Shower: Recognized at Neocon
Gloster’s Deco Garden Shower was met with great fanfare from the moment of its introduction ahead of the 2022 season. After being publicly debuted at the annual Casual Market Show in Gloster’s Chicago Studio in the fall, this year has seen a long line of clients and designers alike fawning over the unique function and stunning design of this original piece by Henrik Pedersen. Utilizing a seamless confluence of materials, the Deco Garden shower is exemplary of Pedersen’s stated design philosophy that “The shape, colour, and choice of materials have to complement each individual design”, and that “Good design is functional, beautiful, and easy to understand”. A base of teak slats provides a welcoming tactile standing surface that is never too hot in the sun and never too cool in the shade. A powder coated aluminum frame in meteor color delivers the eye-catching foundation for a design principle of upper and lower rings linked via a single straight line, and a stainless-steel shower head in a warm, polished brass color rounds out the piece’s aesthetic while making a subtle reference to the real solar disc above.

When we introduced this Outdoor Shower, we did so by posing the question, “What is a home without a few unique enhancements to add that final touch of style?” While many of Gloster’s accessory items provide an opportunity to indulge in that final creative flourish, the Outdoor Shower stands alone in our catalogue on the basis of its unique functionality and highly stylized form. After garnering significant attention while on display during Neocon in Gloster’s Chicago Studio in June 2022, the judging panel for Interior Design Magazine reinforced the enticing charm of the Outdoor Shower by naming it as the winner of the HiP Award for the Outdoor Products category. Occurring since 1969, Neocon “has served as the world’s leading platform and most important event of the year for the commercial interior design industry,” acting as “the hub for the commercial design community, uniting its designers, architects, end-users, manufacturers, dealers, service providers, associations, educators, students, and the media each year”. Awarded in each of the last nine years since its inception, Interior Design’s HiP awards “celebrate the most innovative commercial products and design thinkers in the A&D community”.
